Maybe someone could tell me how I should give full permission as AceofSpades suggests? I feel it has to be something to do with the read-only attribute.Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac I reset it once more to clear the read only and after starting Money checked it just before I tried to restore backup file and it was clear however the restore still failed and the read only attribute had been reset to readonly! The folder's attribute had been set back to read only. Under the Parallels Desktop, the folder in which the money file is created was set with the attribute of 'read only' in the file properties section which I cleared immediately before running Money but the program failed. I have tried AceofSpades suggestions, creating a new Money file with the same name as the back-up file but the restore failed - as normal. I feel it MUST be something I am doing - probably due to my lack of Apple knowledge!

Thank you all for your assistance and advice. I have contacted Parallels support who claim the problem will be corrected in a future version of Parallels Desktop - but as exactly the same problem occurs when trying under VMWare I am very doubtful and feel sure it is something stupid I am doing! I cannot believe no one has transferred a Microsoft Money file from a PC to a Mac! Having set up the virtual application successfully when I try to restore the backup file created on the PC I get the same error on the Macbook - "Money cannot locate 'C:\Users\username\Money\Moneyfilename' or cannot open it possibly because it is a read-only file, or you do not have permission to change it, or your disk is write-protected'. I have tried, unsuccessfully, installing the Money system under both Parallels Desktop and VMWare on a Macbook Pro with the same error - so I am sure it is something I am doing incorrectly.
